Derek Wicks

Derek C. Wicks was born in Toronto, Ontario, in 1969. An interest in art and nature began at a young age and blossomed into devotion during his early years of high school. Attending schools for the arts, Derek graduated with honors and awards for artistic excellence. His scholastic career continued at Sheridan College where he earned a diploma in Technical and Scientific Illustration, again winning awards for artistic excellence in the technical division. Derek worked many years as a freelance illustrator while pursuing his dream of being a wildlife artist. Gaining international recognition, Derek devoted his full attention to wildlife art in 1995. Today, Derek exhibits across North America and his work is found in major Canadian and American galleries, shows, and private collections.
